Why Tritium is cool, er hot, er radioactive

• Tritium as we geeks know is an integral part of thermonuclear devices, which means it's more than perfect for a never ending light source!
• Tritium illumination is the use of gaseous tritium, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen, to create visible light. Tritium emits electrons through beta decay, and when they interact with a phosphor material, fluorescent light is created, a process called radioluminescence, or coolness.
• Naturally occurring tritium is extremely rare on Earth, where trace amounts are formed by the interaction of the atmosphere with cosmic rays. Now that's awesome, cosmic rays in your pocket.
