Justin’s Top Camping Gadgets

Hey there fellow Camingeek,

I started Campingeek because I love just about every camping gadget I lay my eyes on. Problem is, as much as I want too I can't take every gadget out camping. I've got or used almost every gadget on my site and over time I've come to build up a collection of stuff I really enjoy using or just don't go camping without.

Here are my camping gadget essentials

Head Torch

apex-extreme.jpgI've been through a few head torches in my time however recently i've decided to swap portability for outright power! The Apex Extreme is in all honesty a bit silly, but I don't care. I can spot my dogs way off in the distance, turn dark forest into day and run it on low power mode when needed. I've got used to the external power pack and I just love the pure power of the thing.

See why I love the Apex Extreme

Leatherman Multi Tool

images.jpegClearly a MUST. I’ve had my original Leatherman for over 10 years. I’ve used it for almost every camping task possible from cutting up food to repairing a Toyota Landcruiser (many times), the Leatherman is and will always be an essential camping gadget.

There's a Leatherman camping gadget for all budgets now

Selk Bag wearable sleeping bag

justin-selkbag-camping.jpgThe Selk Bag is a recent addition to my camping gear. To be perfectly honest, the real reason I purchased the Selk Bag is so I can get out of the tent in the early hours of a cold camp morning and take a whizz without having to get out of my sleeping bag. The first time my friends saw this they completely freaked out! I don't think I could go back to a normal sleeping bag.

The selk bag is a great gadget

Pocket Chainsaw

justin-pocket-chainsaw.jpgI love a petrol chainsaw as much as the next person however I don't always take it wherever I go. The pocket chain saw just lives in my camping gear bag so I don't really think about it, I know it's just there.

Simple, effective checkout thepocket chainsaw

Survival Knife

bear-grylls-gerber-survival-knife-outofbox.jpgIt’s not usually a problem to start a fire when camping; everyone has matches or a lighter. I used to carry around the Swedish FireSteel flint fire starter, however in the name of gadget consolidation I now have the Bear Grylls Gerber Survival Knife which has an integrated fire starter. Now I have a larger blade if I need it, a fire starter and a hammer.

Not a toy but a real tool checkout the Bear Grylls Gerber Survival Knife

Thanks for taking a look at my top camping gadgets.

Cheers,
